Valentine's Day Decor

I was all in the mood to decorate for Valentine's Day this year.  With all of these dreary winter days, some pretty, pink hearts can really cheer me up.  I have also found that if I have a nice, flat surface and I decorate it, less junk will accumulate there. :) Unfortunately, the lighting is not so great there, so please forgive me as my pictures will be kinda icky, but it does make a dark spot seem brighter!

I got these awesome barn windows at a yard sale last summer (It was on my birthday, actually. Happy Birthday to me!) so I finally pulled one out of storage.  I love having pictures of the kids around the house- cute ones, that will make me smile and remind me that they are still adorable even though my house looks like a tornado went through. I converted one of my favorite pics of each kid into black and white and printed them out.

I bought these mini clothespins at Michael's (with a coupon = $1.50) and used my red and white baker's twine to make a little "clothesline" across the windowpanes.

I made this cute chalkboard tray as part of my Christmas decor- I just never showed it off, so here is the before:

I bought it at the Dollar Tree and painted it with a fun aqua color on the sides and chalkboard paint in the middle. It is fun to doodle on, but I have to be careful not to chip the paint.  That happens sometimes. Anyway, here is the Valentine's version:

I love the contrast of the aqua with the pink and red.  I also used a blue Ball canning jar (trying to be all matchy here) and stuck my lighted branches in there. I want to add more branches- natural ones from outside- but it is either too cold or too wet to make it worth going out there for me. I wrapped a pink paper heart doily around it and tied with more baker's twine.

The "LOVE" letters were from Michael's ($1, but I used a coupon and paid 80 cents or so) and I got the candles at Christmas, but never got them out.

Finally, I hung some of my wooden hearts from the shelf above.  They are available to purchase HERE.

I added a few more details after I took the pictures.  One thing I added was some of my Willow Tree angels in that empty space in the bottom - their wings are missing thanks to the kids, but they look perfect there!

It is a nice, cheery little spot in the house now! Happy Valentine's Day!

How beautiful! I haven't gotten out our small supply of valentine decorations yet, but you're inspiring me. I think we might have to get them out soon.

The barn window looks amazing...you definitely put your buy to good use! Love it!

Your Valentine's Day decorations look great! It's fun to decorate for all the holidays, especially when you have small kids.

fyi - when your kids all become teenagers it probably won't matter if your flat surfaces are decorated or not. They will pile it up anyway. lol

What a cute Valentine's Day display! I have an old chippy white window frame just like yours. It's one of my all time favorite flea market finds. $2.00! I love how you strung up pictures of your sweet kiddos.
