Football Beanie Pattern

For Christmas gifts, I made four of these crocheted football beanies.  They were gifts, and my only boy isn't so little, so I don't have any great pics of cute little boys modeling them.  They were pretty easy and I thought that I would share the pattern since I made it up as I went along.  I made it in several different sizes so I will give the directions for 0-6, 6-12, and 12-24 months.  I am using what I think are standard abbreviations, but if you are confused about anything, just let me know. OK?  Here it goes...

Crochet Football Beanie
0-6 months

Materials:
I used Red Heart Soft in brown and white.  I got about 3.75 beanies of assorted sizes from one skein of brown.  It only takes a little bit of white.
I also used a size H crochet hook. I forgot to measure the gauge, so, um, I don't know what to say other than that it worked OK for me and everyone's hats seem to fit just fine.

Ch 3, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as a hdc in this and each round hereafter), 6 hdc in ring, join with sl st to 2nd ch in beginning ch 2. (7hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, 2 hdc in each hdc, join. (14hdc)
Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *1 hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join and fasten off. (21 hdc)
Row 4: Using white, sl st to any hdc in Row 3, ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join and fasten off. (28 hdc)
Row 5: Using brown, sl st to any hdc in Row 4, ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *hdc in next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join. (35 hdc)
Row 6: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *hdc in next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join. (42 hdc)
Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in same sp as joining, *hdc in next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, repeat from * around, join. (49 hdc)
Row 8: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join and fasten off. (49 hdc)
Row 9: Using white, sl st in any hdc in Row 8, ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join and fasten off. (49 hdc)
Row 10: Using brown, sl st in any hdc in Row 9, ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join. (49 hdc)
Row 11: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc all the way around, join and fasten off. (49 hdc)
Row 12: Sl st in each hdc all the way around, join and fasten off. (49 sl st)

For the laces:
I took a long piece of white yarn, fastened it to the back, pulled it through to the front, and made a straight line up the front of the beanie.  Then, I wove laces down the front (twice for each one to make them double thickness). It was really tricky to keep them in a straight line with the ones above so my best advice is to fiddle around until it looks right.

If you use this pattern, I would absolutely LOVE to see how it turns out! Send me a pic, or a link, or at least tell me about it... please?

P.S.  Feel free to make and sell as many as you want, but please do not copy this pattern and sell it as a pattern.  That is cheating and it's rude.  :(
